(Incidentally, Microsoft acquired the Wunderlist to-do app last year.) The process is similar with the Outlook-Wunderlist integration. Tapping the “Open in Evernote” link launches the Evernote app, enabling users to view their reminders in more detail. In Evernote’s case, setting a reminder on a note will cause it to appear in the Outlook calendar along with a link back to Evernote. Not only does Outlook populate users’ calendars with reminders and activities from those services, it can also bounce users back to the respective app if they want to view or edit events.
Once the apps are linked, it’s a two-way street. “Calendar Apps, along with a two-week mini-calendar, three-day view and iOS calendar widget, have already made it to Outlook, with Connected Calendars up next.”

If the functionality sounds familiar, that’s because Calendar Apps was part of the popular Sunrise calendar app. Calendar Apps allow users to link their Calendars with Evernote, Facebook and Wunderlist.

Microsoft launched a new feature for the Outlook iOS and Android apps this week called Calendar Apps, enabling users to keep tabs on their to-do lists, reminders and events from select third-party apps. To get a clearer visual representation of this, check out the images below.Outlook for iOS and Android can now help users manage more chores, errands and social gatherings using a single calendar. Not to make things overly confusing, Outlook offers an easy toggle for changing the color of each sub-menu, which can quickly let you identify where the calendar entry is coming from - think green for Evernote, red for Wunderlist and so on. Similarly, Evernote can put your notes right into the calendar, again provided that a due date has been set. Facebook, for instance, allows Birthdays and Events to pop into your calendar view - from which you can RSVP - while Wunderlist offers a complete mirroring of your various lists, which can show up on your timeline if you set a date or reminder. Here’s how it works: once inside the calendar tab, swiping right to the side menu will show you how these new apps are built right into your already-present calendar, with various sub-menus that you can toggle on and off at your will. While you could already see your calendar from within the dedicated tab inside the app, the new addition - which likely comes from the Sunrise acquisition - will allow services like Evernote, Facebook and Wunderlist to integrate as well…

And that doesn’t just mean apps like those in Office 365‘s suite keeping your productivity up even on non- Windows systems, but something that aims at a much deeper integration. If there is one thing we learned from CEO Satya Nadella’s corporate restructuring of Microsoft over the last couple of years, it’s that he wants its services to be everywhere.
